Sales Representative – Steel Distribution

The Opportunity

American Dream Search has partnered with a growing, family-owned steel service center in Houston to hire an experienced Sales Representative. This is a hunter-focused opportunity for a salesperson who wants to build their own book of business and directly benefit from the gross profit they generate. The earning potential is proven: the company's experienced sales team averaged approximately $161K in OTE in 2025, while its top-performing Sales Representative earned $257K.

What You’ll Do

• Prospect, develop, and close new business
• Build your own customer base through cold calling, networking, referrals, and customer visits
• Sell carbon, stainless, alloy, and mechanical steel products
• Target manufacturers, machine shops, fabricators, oil & gas, construction, and industrial customers
• Manage opportunities from quote through delivery
• Build profitable, long-term customer relationships

Key products include alloy bar such as 4130, 4140, 4145 and 4330, Charpy-tested tubing, ERW, and carbon/alloy pipe and tubing.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of sales/business development/prospecting experience
• Steel or metals experience strongly preferred
• Existing industry relationships/book of business highly desirable
• Proven hunter mentality and ability to win new accounts
• Strong commercial and relationship-building skills
• Entrepreneurial, self-motivated approach

Compensation & OTE

The company offers a $50K+ base salary with flexibility for the right candidate, plus an uncapped, gross-profit-based commission structure reaching 15% at the highest production tier.

For an experienced salesperson, the company expects at least the 12.5% commission tier, which would produce approximately $97K+ in base and commission at the bottom of that tier, with substantial upside from there.
